The garage of dreams…

Right, well my mum and I spent a decent chunk of our day today getting rather lost just outside of Oxford anyway, we were turning round in a fairly derelict looking farmstead when, just as we were leaving I spied through the crack of an open door (what I thought) was a Jaguar XJR-12 , at which point, naturally (and mainly because I thought the smell of cow dung had got to me) my mum was ordered to stop the car and lo and behold I went back and opened the door to the most amazing garage (in fact, the most amazing thing) I had ever seen; I mean there was every race car under the sun in there, from Prosports to 962Cs there was everything, at least 50 of them, even the sister car to Randys Datsun, it was, in every respect heaven…

Spent about 10mins chatting to one of the guys in there until my mum came and dragged me away (unfortunately the paint shop we were trying to find was closing in a few minutes and we had to get a move on); but with out a doubt it was a moment I will never forget.

Anyways, just felt I had to share with some people whod understand, after all my very own mother took me away from the pearly gates to buy bloody paints…

David

Nice story David,

Don’t know what it’s like over here but in NZ you sometimes find top-notch car collections in the strangest places!

Yep, great story David

PS What colour of paint did you buy?

There are plenty of places round here where Group C racers (and other tasty stuff) hide…

Alex,

Is the spice a new addition?

Another motorsport forum I frequent is also frequented by a certain James Glickenhaus who had the Enzo re-shelled by Pininfarina to look a bit like a P6, he also has a Ford GT MkIV (finished 4th at Le Mans, which he has used on the road.
I’d love to know what his whole collection consists of.

I’m off to see a customer in Petersfield tomorrow … they happen to be on a farm that doubles up as a storage facility for a number of classics etc … often hear the odd V8 or V12 out for its weekly run … even an S1 Exige resides there in the airconditioned barn …

Alex,

Is the spice a new addition?

It was one of the first. Was the C2 Championship winning car in 1989 I think. It went to Japan after that and was converted to wide bodied C1 spec. Old man aquired it in about 95 for not a lot. Slumbered until 2000 and wheeled out for the early Group C revival races, with original driver, Nick Adams. Engine blew during the 2003 season. Car is currently undergoing total rebuild and should hopefully* be out for the later races of this year, with the old man at the wheel.

*nothing is ever certain with these cars!

Alex…excuse the total ignorance…but that Martini car looks awesome…what is it ?
