Thought id offer this on here before pistonheads, even though i will probably just get a load of stupid comments
Series 1 elise, the first production elise ever sold, featured on “the elise the inside story” programme being driven away by its first owner from Bell and Colville, it has a B&C 140 conversion, its in excellent condition, full history, calypso red, high miles (95,000)but runs drives and looks as if it had only covered 30,000 or less, maintained regardless of cost, (lots of bills supplied in history file) interior is immaculate as it has recently been fully re-trimmed at lotus.
Someone buy it before i turn it into a LOT racer

Series 1 elise, the first production elise ever sold,
Well worded Chris as the first production Elise off the line was I beleive given away and is still sat in a garage with I think around 20 miles on the clock
Well i have never heard that, and the ad was not written with it in mind
Surely if that was the case it would have been pointed out in the programme the “elise story”
Why would they go to the trouble of filming the guy driving away in the first elise if really it was the second one ??
Urban myth in my opinion im afraid lets see some piccys or ownership info of this mystery car. Put up or shut up
Afraid not Chris, I know the owner reasonably well and for several reasons he would not wish to advertise the fact he owns the car. Suffice to say he was not a “customer” of Lotus, he had rather closer links than that . But I’m not disputing the fact that the car you now have may well have been the first “customer” car or the first “sold” and as such is a piece of history.
There were several, perhaps 20 or more development “mules” built and for sure some of these are still around i saw an n reg one on e-bay a few years ago, if your friend has one of these then yes it was produced before mine but its NOT a production car its a prototype and so not the first
Anyway heres the link to the programme my car is featured at around the 2 hours 17 mins stage so you might want to skip some of it http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7072924456318931568
I cant see all the lotus bods cracking open the champagne etc, all pretending its the first when really its the second
Chris, lets agree to disagree as I’m half the size of Uldis and well remember what you had in mind for him
But for the record the car is in the exact condition it left the production line in (even the wishbones ) so no development mule. I imagine that if I could find the time to watch the full programme the owner would be featured as he was pretty integral to the Elise development programme in fact without him it may well never have seen the light of day…
