The Elves were early

After relocating to Eastern Europe it hasn’t taken long for the withdrawal symptoms to set in :frowning: I soon discovered that I was living in a land full of traffic free twisting hilly B roads. I also began to wonder why I sold the Honda Exige! My 240 bhp Smax fun bus is great, but it’s not putting a grin on my face.

In October I came back to the UK for a few days and rented a Caterham. I was hooked and started shopping for a R300 or R400 but sadly I couldn’t get an international insurance policy on one.

Hmm, what now? I really fancied something different. Maybe a 997 cabrio? Perhaps a bit too in yer face for a country where not too many people own cars. Then I logged back onto Exiges.com and saw what you fellas have been up to. Gav’s rebuilt 211, JF’s wild NA engine up and running, seriouslydaves project progressing with a sequential box. Inspired by all this and some good banter I decided to stay with the Lotus family  You’re a bad influence you lot !

This morning the Bell and Collville Elves arrived with their race shuttle sleigh containing an S2 Elise SC. importantly it’s left hand drive and has been living in UAE so it’s not seen much wet use.

I could have chosen an S3 Elise S for similar money but I’m happy to trade the extra torque for 8000rpm of the old 2ZZ  .

The insurance was sorted through Stuart Collins, they have arranged a 365 day European policy for me. Just got to figure out how I get it to Slovakia now. I’m sure there will be some volunteers to deliver it, via Stelvio!

I’ve told myself that this a nice unmolested road car that’s adequate in standard spec and doesn’t need any mods. Let’s see how long that lasts. It would look good with 240R rims…

Merry Christmas folks.

very cool! didn’t stay away long

T

Congrats

That will get a lot of attention in Slovakia!

That’s very nice Wez
Welcome back matey

Very nice mate, not easy to get ‘unhooked’ from Lotus ownership

I was really expecting a Caterham lol. Nice one buddy, we’ll also need some proper scenic shots to go with that car!

Damon, I’m mostly worried about the type of attention that the interior trim will attract  the local ‘street corner traders’ might think I’m moving in on their territory!

Jonny, amazed that you’re still talking to me now I’ve gone to the dark side  am I forgiven

Yes  you big poof

Nice one - good job.

If only all yer mates had told you not sell the Honda Exige and that you’d regret it…oh hold on

Good to see that you’re back in the fold, it looks a great little car. I particularly like the Whore’s Handbag interior

We should have a wager how many weeks before you’ve had the spanners on it and at a minimum done brakes/shock/diff/wheels

Well done!

yeah can’t a LSD find it’s way home from work

Me, seasoned European tourer

Thanks for the offer.

Due to the crap weather and grimy roads I’ve arranged to have it transported over to Slovakia. It should arrive next week…same time as the snow :frowning:

Funny thing is that this car must have done more miles being transported than driven! It’s been to UAE and back with its former owner and now it’s being hauled 1500 miles to here. The cars only got 9k on the clock :sunglasses:

Full report and pictures required, please.

Nice one Wes.

Looks tidy mate, i vert much doubt youll need any more than it already has for twisty b roads, leave as is and save it for a build car to go with it…

Funny you should say that Gav  you know my form!

Gareth and I have already started the ‘lessons learned’ list from the last build. The plan for the ‘evolution 4’ Tarmac rally car is in progress. Looks like it will have to be an S1 as I want to achieve the minimum class weight of 720kg, could be a challenge with a NA Honda and a full cage.
