Now I no longer have gas struts I have realised that the bootlid is very heavy, has anyone ever bothered to weigh one? I am guessing it must be 25kg’s
I am surprised that there are not more solutions on the market, I saw the �1500 one from Japan . I wonder what lotus charge for the Cup260 one?
Dont get me wrong its not something I will be changing in the near future but I was shocked by the weight of mine and that the really soft gas strut (as I thought) was actually really tough! I am just surprised no one seems to be working on lighter versions as it seems like an easy way to save a good chunk of weight.

Good question, I suppose I could take it off and see? Am still interested to hear total weights. As a unit it felt much heavier than the roof.

The 260cup uses a carbon boot and spoiler, not sure on the weight savings? suppose it depends on the quality.
If it is the spoiler I wonder how they compaire to the carbon jobbies by reverie etc?

Don’t have any figures, but I had my wing off last year as I was attempting to fix a boot leak and I wouldn’t put it much above 5-6kg?

If I’m not wrong, ReVerie lists the weight of the standard Exige wing as well as their CF ones. Website seems to be down as I post this though.

BSK lists the Exige rear hatch at 8.7kg while their CF one is 3.5kg.

From the Reverie site “Weight (Fixed): 1.5kg (stock wing is 800g heavier)”. So that puts the Stock wing at 2.3kg.

Had the lid off my car today and took a moment to step on the scales.

The lid itself was 8.5 Kg
Mounting hardware hinges, strut, latch etc were 2 Kg.
The stock wing was 2.5 Kg.

Grand total 13 Kg.

Not as bad as I thought then, the stock wing as actually pretty light all these carbon jobs cant really save you that much.
