Tesco's Petrol change....

hey dont know if anyone is the same but i normally use tesco’s super unleaded… but i noticed the other day that they have now changed it to a new name of “momentum” and also that it has gone from its 97 to 99…

so my question is what sort of damage if any would this 99 fuel do on the exige? if any.

and what sort of fuel do people use in the cars?

any help will be excellent

I always usually use tesco super, but not noticed this stuff yet so will keep an eye out.
I cant see 99ron causing any problems tho, surely its a good thing.

Thought tesco had been 99 for a couple of years now. Certainly round our way. One of the mags compared it with BP and VPower when it came out ant rated it top of the bunch but my Exige still seems to prefer VPower.

Tesco super has been 99ron for years, it’s just a name change

has it… never noticed that it was 99 before i always thought it was 97,

so the main question is it better or worse or does it do nothing to the car?

Just use it it will be fine, mine has always been run on it and is now mapped for it.

Super Dave at Emerald stated ‘this fuel is s***’ when I filled my car up with this stuff to get it mapped four years ago. Perhaps things have chaged.

Any comment Dave?

I’ve heard several people have issues with Tesco 99 before…cars not running properly etc…

Never used it myself to be honest - tend to stick with BP super unleaded or Shell Optimax.

Same here

I’ve been using the Tesco 99 stuff for a couple of years, with no problem - on the road. However, usually by the time I get to a track, I’ll have filled up with V Power, BP etc.

ok cheers dudes think i might have a couple of tanks full of vpower see if it runs any differnce,

I read somewhere that tesco 99 is washed with butane(I think) this means that it goes off quite quickly. I have used it and never had a problem though.

Thorney did some tests on teco stuff and it came out over the competitors, V power was only 98 though then.

Big problem with mapping on 99 is getting stuck when you cant get hold of any, best to map on 97 as that is available on most fourcourts. Or be a tit like me and map it on 6 month old esso super :frowning:

I have been using Tesco 99 for nearly 5 years now for racing, track and road use, works fine for me.

I have used it for may years on different cars and never had a problem, including a junior that revs to 9.5

Gotta laugh at Thorney doing tests on Tesco 99 though - especially when he has a rather large sponsorship deal with them!

glol, Dave.

Whats next EVO doing a deal with shell
