Team Lotus to return to F1...

Lets hope it works out!

Fingers crossed

They’re discussing it now on the BBC and can’t see it… :frowning:

I hope they’re wrong - it would be great to see Team Lotus there!

This is recurring rumour, of course, the last iteration being that VW/Audi were going to buy Lotus from Proton as they want to get into F1 but feel that the Lotus name would be more appropriate for an Audi GP car.

This is something completely different though and, if the capped cost idea can be maintained, should allow more, less well funded teams, other than the grandee manufacturers, into the fray. Personally I think it would be great for Lotus/Proton and F1 in general. Having had a drive in an Evora this weekend I’d say their prospects of making money are looking up…

Trivia Quiz - What was the last GP car to carry the Lotus badge and where was its last race?

So how many have you ordered Mike?

None, as yet…

Tell me you’ve lined up a numberplate just in case tho

Alternatively known as Pathetic Team Lotus :frowning:

Mark has it, Pacific cars carried lotus badges on the front flanks throughout the season, so if you haven’t got a Pacific PR02 in your model collection you are incomplete…

What worries me about this is that there are others out there who know as many trivial facts as I do. What should worry them is that they are mostly younger than me…

By the way, don’t overlook the fact that the team in question thgat is contemplating bringing the Lotus name back into F1 built the recent winning Le Mans Bentleys and have always been staffed by ex-Lotus engineers so they are no back yard Billies…

ha, After last time- you must be joking - it’s an M250 anyway with 9 years more development.

Does anyone know the M number or official type number of the Evora (more trivia! but I don’t know the answer)

The sad thing with the Pacific is that in my early 20’s I actually thought it was good that the Lotus name was still in F1 at the time, now I think it was an insult.

I’m still not sure where I stand on the new introduction, but probably leaning towards the no camp. I really do think the team should have been consigned to the history books after that fateful day in Monza when Eddie Irvine destroyed the last hope of Team Lotus and it went into administaration a couple of races later.

On the subject of Litespeed though, I actually think they have been very clever with the way they have set up the whole thing. They have some experience of developing their own F3 car, they have the engineering know how of Mike Gasgoynes company designing the car and have now resurrected the Lotus name from David Hunt to give them that competitive edge in the FIA selection.

Good luck to them, I just don’t think it should be called Team Lotus.

I thought the recent LeMans winning Bentleys were re-bodied Audi’s (which always win LeMans).

Yes…but No. They were built in Norfolk. Even Wikipidia knows that - see BENTLEY SPEED 8

I think it would be cool!!

Plus Audi and Lotus a match made in heaven!!

See guys, I have fore-thought!!!

Lotus say no.

Yes, not really a surprise. Mesage to Bernie (surely he drops in occasionally) - not too many people like your capped costs ideas especialy when a household name is put at risk… Sort that lot out Bernie!
