what have you done to your engine bay??

I assume you’re talking about the S2?

How’s this:

[image]Gallery | The Lotus Cars Community

A bit of paint, a lotus Sport decal, and a resin badge off eBay.

I also painted the inside of the bodywork in matt black as it looks really unfinished as standard.

yeh S2…

ooo i like that…looks very factory tuned!!

how long it take?

Also…

what do you all think should be modded on a S2 exige?

I suppose there was a couple of hours work, mostly in hand painting the silver lettering and colouring the badge. It’s best to allow plenty of drying time between coats. I think the engine cover took me about 3 days in total and the oil cap was done over two days.

I’m not sure what you mean.

ECU, Brakes for a start.

which brakes???

and what ECU???

great links…thts cool…

they look ace!

cant wai to get a pot of paint out

which car have you got, and what packs ?

series 2 2005.

touring pack.

stage 2 exhaust and piper x induction. twin oil coolers.

Is this modification for show or for go? No point taking the passenger seat/stereo out, etc if you only go up and down the motorway and for b-road blasts.

That’s more like it, true Exiger talk!

I may have been drinking but I know ‘S2 Specific Topics’ when I see them!

I know it’s tempting, but… don’t feed him Brendan!

We’re soon going to be talking about subwoofers and neons!

I’d like to see someone fit neon tubes under their exige then try going over some of the speed humps around the cotswolds Would it make me a chav if I fitted blue LED’s into my side vents and grilles for that ‘fast & furious’ effect

Asking what should be modified is pretty vague. What are your expectations from your car? Are you going to track it? How much do you want to spend? What kind of cars have you owned before?

Modifications are a very personal thing. I’d say the car is fantastic as standard. Maybe you should live with it for a while and see if there’s anything that bugs you, or that you feel could be improved, then ask more specific questions here?

I made load of changes to my S1, but I think of my S2 in a very different way. It’s less of a “work in progress”, not so much of a “racer”.

The main thing that lets the S2 down for me relative to my S1 is the feel of the brakes. I like the ABS, I like the reduced pedal effort thanks to the servo, but I initially found it almost impossible to heal and toe. I had the pedal adjusted per Lotus’ recommendation, and that was a big improvement but it still feels a bit mushy, I want a firmer feel. I’m having braided steel hoses fitted right now and I’m hoping that will help. If that doesn’t do the trick then upgraded pads will be the next thing to try.

Another disappointment for me was the noise. Just a little quiet for me with the stage 1 exhaust. I think I probably should have tried a 2bular or something like that. I’ve improved matters with a completely free upgrade: I’ve removed the air intake snorkel. This makes a big difference to the sound on the second cam, and supposedly improves performance marginally.

I see you already have a sports exhaust and induction kit, so that’s the obvious stuff out of the way.

Lotus Sport do an ECU which drops the cam switch point by a few hundred rpm. This seems to get very good reports, but it’s expensive for such a small change. I haven’t tried it so I don’t know if I’d prefer it.

I’d like to see someone fit neon tubes under their exige

haha.

cheers brendan

i will be looknig to track and drove a stand exige compared to this one and i understand what you mean by the noise…the stage 2 and induction make a big difference…felt abit faster too…but thts problem in my head due to the noise.

im coming for a 350z, although a lovely car i was getting peed off seeing grannys driving them, and also i used to race karts from young ages…so was looking for a road alternative…and now i have found it.

i have a new job also with company car, so the need to be used everyday has gone so the only way to go was to get the Exige…was also looking at Sagaris’s, maybe thats in a few years though.

thanks for all your help everyone…

budget on car, i unsure yet…i will be sriving it how it is for now…but am also looking towards the future…no harm on doing background research for the future.

i wont be added anything stupid…but with my cars i like to get the interior nice and the engine and engine bay looks…nice samcos, painted rocker…etc.

the interior im looking to leather like some people have, just to make it a little different and a nicer feel…

just my little touches really…

thnaks
