Talk to me about tyres

I’m on the lookout for some non semi slick tyres. At the moment I’m torn between the AD08s and Michelin Pilot Sports 3s.

Any opinions? I know AD08s seem to be the tyres of choice but I cant help wonder if that’s just because of the progression from LTS AD07 and that there are other tyres out there for less money that would do a better all round job?

Also as for the size up front? Seems to be more choice if you go for a 205 instead of 195? Any more opinions on this? Someone mentioned Walshy blamed a cars skittish behaviour on the limit being down to 205s up front?

And where are the best places to buy from? Camskill, Tyretraders?

Adams and Page…every time
Speak to Stuart 01494 525971
are these for road use?
If so I’d go R1R
But do speak to Stuart

Thanks for the tip. Do they send them out? And what are their prices like compared to Camskill etc?

Yup they do send them out
Stuart has supplied the Elise Trophy for the last few years…until Avon came on the scene. I’ve always found him a fountain of knowledge when it comes to tyres. They are also one of the few who fit them as they should be…Yellow dot next to the valve. I use AP for all my tyres no matter what car.

Excellent, I’ll give them a call when I get a chance

I got mine from Adams and Page. Fantastic service. They sent them to my garage where they were being fitted…

Yeah, you cant beat Stu at Adams and Page

Anyone know if ok to fit 205/45x16 fronts on Exige Y spokes instead of the 195/50x16 without them catching.

My local tyre fitter in Market Rasen did this also at my request. The balance weight saving from the old A048’s was just amazing. I’ve had tyres fitted before and had them removed and done AGAIN when I’ve gone to collect them, but it baffles me that tyre fitters aren’t taught this in training! They’d save a fortune in lead…

Totally agree…next time you are at a supermarket car park, have a look, bet you can count on one hand, tyres that are fitted as said above!
