Sat here thinking of selling up. I love my car but I just dont use it and I can’t help but feel having an S1 sport160 for half the price sat in the garage would be much easier to justify to myself and would no doubt be as much fun?
Don’t do it. HTH.
Boothy - you’ve just spent ages and lots of cash getting that car how you want it and you’re thinking of getting rid ???
The only reasons I’ve ever sold cars I love is financial - if that’s the case I’m sorry for you. If not DONT DO IT !!!
If you buy a cheaper ‘hack’ you’ll just spend all your time thinking how inferior it is to your old car and end up selling the hack and looking for a suitable replacement which won’t be as good as your old car.
I’m not getting the use I should out of a 50K car - one TD a month and an odd blast when the wives not around
But for the 1 day a month or odd blast it’s all worth it.

You can’t have driven a sport 160 for a distance then? great car but a real pain to live with, there great if driven flatout.
Have never actually driven a 160 tbh, just always liked the looks of them. I owned a 111s S1 but they are no doubt a better car to live with than the 160.
Chris, its not financial as in being skint so much as feeling like I could put the rest of the cash to better use in another house to rent or something.
I used a Sport160 for two years, every day. Certainly much easier than an S1 Exige! Not as easy as an S2 I suspect. The only real difficulty was getting used to the lack of drivability below 2k. Other than that, twas awesome.
OK - but I’d still really think about it
You’d save a fortune by not getting married - QED
ChrisGT told me that!
I would go 111S rather than sport 160 much more driveability I don’t think there’s much in it in terms of performance

Ooops I’m meant to be talking you out of change "I mean don’t do it "
Go on regular runs with a 111S & find that there is very little real world performance difference between the two cars - might be different on track but for B road driving one would make a nice choice.
Andy, get a grip mate it’s shouldn’t be about the money, a hobby for lack of a better word never is
DON’T DO IT!!!
If you think you dont use it enough, then get your arse out in it a bit more matey!!
Exige is a keep car … its only gonna appreciate in value …
You,d regret selling m8 …
If you do get a tad bored of it just sorn It for a while then come back when you miss it …
I think you would regret it mate, ok you will initially have lots of in the bank but in the long term an S1 will cost more to maintain and run, and you may not think it but my betting is that you will miss the power & drive ability of your exige.
After 6 months of ownership it will be booked in with JSR for an Audi conversion thus spending all the money you will have saved, you will just miss the effortless performance of the S2
Oh Boothy, what are we going to do with you?
10 minutes ago you were lusting after a 2-11.
Now it’s something else.
Get the diary out, pencil in a few more track days(or runs out with the wife-to-be/ your Norlog mates) and make sure you get some use out of it.
As others said, you’ve spent God knows what getting just how you want it. Sell it and it will all have been for nothing. And in 10 minutes you’ll regret it.
Keep the faith!
I have a lovely S1 if you’d like, at least you can sit happy in the knowledge that even if you’re not using it, it’s making you some money
If you just want an Elise, do it. If you want something special, stick with the Exige. Former 111S owner speaking.
Keep the Exige and buy an Elise too
