Tail light - different shade

After repairing some of the led’s on my tail lights I’ve noticed one appears to be a deeper red and the other a bit more orange.

I’ve not noticed before. I presume this is not normal and one has faded or been replaced at some point and doesn’t quite match.

Thoughts ?

If they have changed colour over time, it possibly due to poor quality material used in their construction. Replacement is the only corrective action if you want colour uniformity.

Are there any decent after market ones? Not necessarily cheaper… I know GRP in America do some but I’m not sure I like the look. Or is it better to stay original

I spent some time thinking about this and ended up buying some decent soldering ‘third hand’s’, lighting, smd tweezers and magnification to go with my existing hot rework station and proceeded to replace all my LEDS.

Looks much better. I’ve offered this led service to other lotus owners and replaced LEDS (and some resistors that had blown due to water ingress) I’ve done about 8 lights thus far.

Do you have any before / after shots here?

I’ll take once they are back in the car Andy. In this pic you can see the contrast between the old LEDs and the 4 that were replaced.

It’s difficult to get a true likeness on a camera, they aren’t actually as different in real life.
