I’ve spent the last 2 hours changing my larini sport over to the standard exhaust in preparation for a noise test at bedford.
I have come away thinking that there must be an easier way than I did it - so… here is what I did
Remove undertray
Undo the exhaust clamp holding exhaust can onto cat pipe
Remove the drivers side heat sheild access panel held on with 4 bolts under the drivers side exhaust hanger
Removed both drivers side rubber hangers (4 bolts)
Put trolley jack under exhaust
Removed single allen bolt in bottom left hand edge of rear mesh grill and pulled it open a bit, wedging it with a small stick
Got my hand inside this gap and removed all 4 bolts and both rubber exhaust hangers on the passengers side (struggling like mad)
Struggled like mad to wiggle the exhaust free and generally manhandled it off the car
Slid the new exhaust on, holding it up in place with a trolley jack
attached the rubber exhaust mounts and put the 4 bolts back in on the drivers side
Had a NIGHTMARE putting the passenger side rubber hangers back on - the bolt wouldn’t go through the multi-plate thing where it screws in to, but eventually did it.
Decided to fit my new 2bular myself rather than get dealer to do it a few months ago thinking it cant be that difficult. Took 2 of us about 2 hours so dont think you did too bad on your own.
Quickrelease undertray fixings would have made job much easier
ive read that you can leave the passenger side rubbers in and it should just slide out towards the drivers side, i left a garage to do mine so wouldnt be able to comfirm but thats how he said he did mine, and i had it back with in 2 hours but he had the car up in the air.
I have GT3’ed the back of mine so there is less to get in the way, took mine off last weekend and i didn’t have to remove the rubber hangers at all.
I removed the clamps from the cat pipe and separated it off the end can then the end can slides in the rubber hangers till one end falls out then slides back until the other end falls out.
Job done.
