Swapping A048s to opposite side..?

I want to know about swapping rear wheels over to opposite sides…?

The rear passenger side is worn much more than the other side (not much tread left) due to a few trackdays with predominantly right hand bends. If i swapped them to even up the wear i know i will have enough rubber to get thru another trackday (which is next weekend).

The thing is I know the A048s are directional tyres and swapping them will mean they run the wrong way, but if its a dry track is it going to make a noticable difference…?
There isnt much of the directional tread left on one of them so how much difference is it going to make on dry track running them the wrong way.

My understanding is that the tread pattern is designed to run in a certain direction for better water clearing, but if its dry and there isnt much tread left is it going to make any difference for the one trackday…?

Look forward to ur advice and if anyone has done this on a dry track before please let me know…?

Your profile name may be very appropriate!!!

Personally the tyre is so important I wouldn’t mess around and just get some new tyres.

It might be more than the tread that is directional i.e. the carcass construction. Why not splash out 10 to get somebody to actually swap the tyres on the wheels?

You can swap them over and still keep them the right way round, you just need to have them re fitted, shouldnt cost much.

Chris Randall sometimes runs his the other way so there can’t be much of an issue with the construction. Suspect there isn’t much of an issue in the dry if the tyres are wearing evenly. My concern in your case would be that with significant wear then regardless of whether they are switched on the rims then there would be problems.
