Suspension & Brakes

Been a long time and I opened the garage to fine a S1 Exige in there and have decided to get it back on the road. Everything is standard and I would like to know which direction to go to make it feel alive and stop fast. Do I use Elise parts for everything or are there better options?

I sent my car to see Dave and John at SeriouslyLotus.

I have and do use Eliseparts for somethings but the gents at SL offer advice that perhaps isnt always in their business interest but is better for my wallet which I value immensely.

I also bet that John has worked on , or knows almost every s1 in the UK.

Given the near-iconic status of the S1 nowadays, I’d be inclined to keep everything as OE (or at least factory-option) as possible.

If it’s not already had the 190 ECU and other bits fitted, they make a huge difference to the standard car. Mine was done a couple of years ago as I’d had the parts in my garage for ages (I bought the ECU back when everyone was fitting Emeralds for £50…now they all want OE ones again, which is why 190’s are silly money!).

Other changes - done years earlier - were Ohlins springs/dampers, Eliseparts exhaust and minor brake upgrades.
