Supertrapp, potential harm to engine?

I’m having the stage 1 exhaust replaced with a Larini, and as part of the deal, a decat pipe as well. The car already has ITG induction so combined I am assuming that it is going to be way over the top in terms of noise for track use.

As I’ll be doing TDs on an adhoc basis as and when I can fit them around work I was thinking about a couple of these bolted on.

Any comments?

Edit:

Just found this which looks better and shouldn’t create as much back pressure.

Merlin Muffler

Anyone used/using one?

Never been a fan of the supertrapps, they might work but they just look like you are sticking a cork in the exhaust.

I had an extra silencer made for my old track car (like the Merlin one) it cut the sound by 1 or 2 db’s static.

On the Exige i had a new sports cat and exhaust fitted when the Honda went it, it made about 86 db’s static at Combe.

Not had it on track yet but i hope drive by will be ok as well.

If i was you and you can get hold of a sports cat i would fit that for Combe, Donny, Bedford, Goodwood etc and then just run the decat at places with a higher sound limit.

Trust me it sucks when you keep getting black flagged for sound problems
