Supersport options

Does anyone know much about the new ‘supersport’ options available.
Will it be too extreme for road use with only occasional track use?
Cost?
Details of parts? (eg. how easy is it to adjust the front roll bar and dampers?)

Many thanks
Ps. Not interested in info on supertouring…are my eyes playing tricks, ‘cup holder’!!

What are Lotus thinking about… a cup holder!!!

Check out www.pistonheads.com/lotus

Theres some info on there including prices I think, or try www.grouplotus.com

Lotus have gone soft in the head introducing a cup holder…for who…grandads!

Grandads usually have more cash than the rest of us. If more Grandads drove Elises there’d be less caravans and Sunday dawdlers on the road. All good IMHO

For Americans, it would seem. I’ve spent a bit of time lurking around elisetalk.com recently, and it’s scary how many threads there are about cup holders. They’re all obsessed!

Come on if you order a a double expresso you need some where to put it

You have to have the sports pack before you can add the super sports pack. I think the sports pack is 1995 and the super is 1795 = 3790 + exige 29995 + air con 1200 + metallic 500 + delivery/number plates/tax etc, then you are looking at the thick end of 36k. Even more if you have lifestyle paint, then your the wrong side of 36.5k …its getting rather expensive don’t you think? It makes my ‘05’ model seem like something of a bargain…I suppose you could get ride of air con(and boil in the summer) and have a solid colour to keep the price down, if you must have super sports.

Surely it’s more cost effective to buy the standard car and fit aftermarket sports parts. You get to choose what you want, without it coming in a budle of other stuff. There’s enough good aftermarket kit arround to keep most people happy.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Lotus has got the package thing sorted, its designed to get you to spend more. Lotus have built cars to spec before don’t see why they wont do it again.
If that fails just get the basic one take it to Lotus Mortor sport or Plans and get the spec you want

I beleive the supersport option will be 2400 approx. The trouble with ordering a car without options with a view to upgrading, is not the intial cost of the parts, although high, it is the labour charge to fit these parts.

So i’m thinking of going with the supersport option and then at least the factory setting should be correct. Also you are paying pretty much just the cost of parts. I think?

I think this all stems from them choosing to sell the Exige in the states. You see, in the states cars always have lots of ‘packages’ for people to choose from. They think it means that they have more choice, when really they have less. (Like the goverment there.) This would also explain cupholders. I can’t believe that Lotus would bow to US pressure and make cup holders available, but then again I’ll bet they have in mind many more than the 300 Exiges they have suggested would be sold. Oh well, it is the largest car market in the world, can’t blame them too much for going for it.

Before I ordered my Exige I just thought about the options I would like to add. Discussed individual pricing etc. with dealer. In the end I ended up getting the sportspack as the only was a minor difference between the package prices and aftermarket fitting and the package offered some more items aswell. As the plus for the supersport was so big and I wanted the nitrons in stead of the bilstein I dropped that option. I also persuaded the dealer to buy back (at listprice the standard Exige wheels to be replaced by the Ultralight Alloys).

Message: Talk to the dealer, state what you want, let him calculate and then see if a package is a good option…

Nico

As far as I can tell, a cupholder is not an option on the US Exige.

That’s cos it’s standard equipment on your cars.

I’ve seen the EliseTalk posts regarding cup holders, and they seem a little nutty to me. The cupholder isn’t listed in the standard equipment for the US Exige, and I hope it stays that way. Now a GUN RACK . . . . that would be useful. (just kidding of course)

I’m afraid the cup holder has been introduced for the MY 06 Elise in the US. I don’t know whether it’s standard, or a part of one of the trim packs. I assume it’s also available or standard for the Exige as well.
