Hi all.
With too much time on my hands I have been thinking about more car preventative maintenance and I have turned to the supercharger.
I havent seen any service bulletins stating to change the supercharger oil on the MP62 supercharger.
Has anyone done this? And is it required?
There’s bit on wheeler dealers channel last Wednesday Ant Anstead refurbish an Eaton charger on a Mini. Just oil change though.
Interesting thing on the mini there are two separate oil reservoirs. One on the front nose section & smaller rear section.

Not sure how long the link will work but it’s about a 1/3 the way through.
I shall investigate the link! Thanks
Interesting topic.
I found this thread from 2016 (maybe a one-off): Exiges.com - Exiges.com - Lotus exige club
This thread on the MP62 is quite interesting: Things I learned about the MP62 | The Lotus Cars Community
Is there no recommended service interval for the MP62?
Interesting reads there Lankan
There seems to be conflicting information on the lotustalk thread. 100k mile interval or sooner if it leaks, someone else said 10k/20k/50k and then 100k?
I am guessing if its just a case of remove the grub screw, remove there required amount and refill it should be pretty simple, no?
I fell down a rabbit hole listing conflicting opinions about this when I first got my car. General consensus is that the oil shouldn’t really need changing but it seems in some cases that oil levels can drop (probably due to other underlying issues with seals etc) so you should at least regularly stick a tube in and suck some out to make sure it’s actually got some in. If you’re doing that, you might as well change it which I think is where the conflicting advice comes in.
I believe they’re quite particular about not being over nor under filled, and your working with tiny margins as I believe the target quantity is only 110ml(please check this before you do it, I might be misremembering!).
For what it’s worth on mine, I stuck a tube/syringe in - sucked out about 100ml but there was still a bit more to find if I wiggled the tube about a bit. It looked nicely golden/freshish so I just squirted it back in. Will probably make that an annual thing.
Speak to these chaps in Chesterfield, they will point you in the right direction

Here is a video of someone DIY’ing this on a car without an intercooler: <LINK_TEXT text=“- YouTube … e=youtu.be”>- YouTube</LINK_TEXT>
This chap used the entire contents of the bottle (118ml).
Fonzey, did you have to remove the intercooler or can you get to the grub screw with it in place?
Could get to it with IC on no problem
I will buy two lots of fluid and replacement grub screws as I inevitably throw it on the floor.
Let us know how you get on. Post pics and write up for future reference on here.
