Hello.
I plan to remove the engine and gerabox of the Exige this weekend.
Is there any “how to” guide available somewhere?
Any tips?
Regards

Why do guys buy a Lotus and with no mechanical skills think this car a a set of Legos that any child can take apart and put together correctly ?
Get professional help… It only looks like a toy…
Francois… you’ll get used to Frank !
Good link, my 7 year old boy is now playing with Lego Ninjagos, I’d ask him to help!
all in all the UK cars seem to have been reliable so no need to take them apart, from what I can gather though, the easiest is clam off and out of the top, but you can also go down if required
I’ll be takin out my engine again at the end of the week…puckin spun bearing.
I’ll take pictures…
Thanks Frank, Please post pics…
As most parts will be changed (gearbox, thermostat, clutch, flywheel, …) it will be easier to swap all these with the engine out.
I’ll post some pics once done.

Frank …i,m just curious cos ive never suffered this.
Are you referring to mains , big ends, little, cam etc etc.
Not good news either way…
Rods first time, I’ll know more when I get it out and apart…
one assumes there is actually something wrong with the engine… or are you just bored?
NotHing wrong but many parts to change : geArbox Gear set, clutch, fW, thermostat, …
I wouldn’t remove the engine for that lot… Leave the clam on, remove the driveshafts and n/s lower wishbone then drop the gearbox out underneith the car with the engine insitu.
