Suggested Forum Changes...

I do think it worth considering some subtle changes that could make exiges.com look more fresh and relevant.

General - leave as is

Real World - leave as is
(possibly create category for classifieds as a stand alone thing)??

The Oily Bits:
• K-Series engine, rename to ‘Factory Engines’
• Non K-series engine, rename to ‘Engine Swaps’
• Add a ‘Chassis’ section?
• Known Problems (& FAQ??)

Other Stuff:
• Lotus Talk (why have a forum about a forum? Metaforum?) merge content into General Exige Chat.
• Other Lotus - promote into the General catagory under the S3
• Elise talk, ditto the Lotus talk forum, merge into General.
• Projects, surely a duplicate for owners cars, merge content into 1 location.
• Muppet show - leave as is

Note I’m not suggesting we remove any content, rather just reorganise how it’s presented and provide places for future threads to be created.

Thoughts?

WHY ??

IMHO it is pretty well sorted as is… I mean is it really that stale and irrelevant??

I have never found any problem or confusion with any of the current titles either!

It’s good as it is, but agree about the comments made for Other Stuff

Edited: clearly does don’t have enough post count to even have an opinion

My main bugbear is that we have a technical forum for just the S1 and swapped engines. Sure people with a V6 could post in the ‘S3’ forum, but then why have a separate tech forum / category?

I can see from the perspective of a S1 owner, what’s the issue? But an new S3 owner?

Well thats for the existing use base to maintain, and I think we can do it. We’ve had a few members float in but soon float out once they find people here don’t take the trolling bait, or feed the appetite of their narcissistic personality.

T

Don’t forget the Evora section

Didn’t forget you! Proposed promoting the ‘other lotus’ into the general category.

Fine tuning would bring it up to date and see it foreseeably future proof.

:sunglasses:

Says the man with a post count of 100 in 7yrs.

Only person making it a unfriendly place to be right now is you with comments like that.

Sorry but…

All makes perfect sense to me Tim. It would certainly streamline the forum down by cutting away the dead wood and make it look sharper while not actually removing the areas that are used the most. Its a go from me. Its still all on Davids side of the court though that one, it will be down to him at the end of the day.

Sorry if ive been a little tetchy of late guys. I am all up for rejuvenating the forum, bringing in new members, new ideas, etc. Yet some are obvioulsy not liking it and are just being somewhat obtuse in my book. I find it frustrating if im perfectly honest (what you want me to lie to you or should i just say nothing at all?). At the end of the day exiges is a online club. Like any club it only works when it has members that contribute. Simple really. If anyone wants to enlighten me to any different then please speak up, im all ears.

I’m with Timotei; the landscape, usage and users of the cars and forum has moved a lot since a bunch of hardcore enthusiasts purchased their S1’s new. We should recognise that.

Hell we’re discussing forum changes suggested by the owner of an Elise in drag with an engine swap, he would have been ignored as a heretic in the early days

I’ve ground up vhpd for gravel on my drive too

I think every S1 owner has!

So overall, no one is dead against these? No content would be lost, and while the change might take a while for the more neophobic, I think it’ll make more sense to new comers.

Not at all, you have your opinion of course but you miss my point completely.

Im all for quality over quantity, but when you have contributed so little over so long and then you start posting up who should and shouldnt be allowed to be asked to meets, who should and shouldnt be allowed to be members on here, and generally put the forum down I just find it all bit rich in my book tbh Mark and looks as though your thinking of nothing but yourself it would seem and not the greater good of the forum.

While we are on the subject and you dont seem to want to drop it we may as well bring it up.

What, its been 3 months or so now since we opened the site up to new members more easily. Has anyone any complaints of the new members that we have on board? Do we have any bad postings from them, do we see them bringing the level of the forum down any in these early stages? No, its just me having to draw a line somehwere with some of the older residents it would seem and im sorry im doing it but someone has to say something or these type of snide comments will keep popping up all over the forum.

Email David with the plan is the best thing to do Tim.

It would be nice to be able to insert tables on here, unless i’m doing it wrong lol

Simples

:open_mouth: new members…
