Stuff toknow before buying an Exige ?

Hellosorry for my poor english, but i’m french [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]A friend of mine who owns a 111S Elise is planning to buy a Motorsport Exige. But he’d like to know if an exige is much more expensive to own than an Elise. Is there something particular to do on an Exige (delay between each maintenance, cost of it).He has heard that the motor needed to be open and revised each 8 000 km. is it real ?Is the motor very reliable ? (he blew up his motor 3 times on his 111S [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] )Thanks for your answersEmmanuel

Emmanuel,Is he thinking off a Motorsport Elise as used in the Autobytel series or an Exige ?The Exige needs its oil and filter changed every 6000 miles which is twice as often as the Elise. The engines are reliable (under normal use) and do not have to be rebuilt regulary, if the car spends a lot of time on the track then like everything else it will wear out quicker but not after 8000 km !!Most of the parts are the same as the Elise so additional cost is marginal. Tyres being the most expensive consumable item.HTHPhil

Emmanuel,Sorry for my poor French, but Im English!I ran an Elise before buying my Exige and the difference in cost for a service is minimal. Insurance was where the cost hit most.Even if the cost is higher do it anyway, its worth it!
