I’ve posted on SELOC about suspension but what is the feeling on here in comparing Ohlins against Nitrons? For reference my car is used 80% road 20% track.
Cheers.

I think you would have to be more specific to ensure a like for like comparision.
There is quite a range from both manufacturers and quite a range of prices.

Oh oh, can someone pass me the crab cakes please
I have Nitron NTR’s with 430F 570R, I’m happy but then I am no driving god. They did help me to go FLAT though.
I have previously run the Nitron Track Kit (550F 700R) with uprated anti roll bar, which still wasn’t anything like stiff enough to get the most out of the car (S2) on track when it was fitted with R888’s or similar.
However, most say that these rates are far too hard for road use, but I disagree, but I guess that is personal preference!

I run 550/800 lb. springs on Randy spec Nitrons on the street and everyone that has been in the car has commented how smooth the car rides…
For the last six years I’ve been tellin guys the secret is in the springs but what do I know…
The secret is in the dampers. If the damping is good you can run softer springs. The softer the spring, the better the traction!
As Frank says, what does he know!
I know stiff shocks will bounce you off a rough twistie road while the car rolls and unweights the inside wheel causing you to lose traction on corner exit in the real world…
Yeah what do I know…SeanB
considered the quantum suspension that EP sell?
I have a similar setup to Frank and I like it on circuit but I don’t have enough exposure to anything else to have a robust opinion.
On the road though its a bit hardcore and draining. I guess any mixed track/road setup will involve compromise and on my car the compromise has increasingly been on road use. I discussed it with Randy when I bought the dampers off him so tbh it was what I expected.
As has been said, its all about personal preference. I prefer it like that because on the rare occasions I drive the car, I’m typically in the mood and/or on my way to a trackday.
If I had the dosh I’d still like to experience another option like those Ohlins that John/Sean/Gav etc keep banging on about…
