Dear all having got the car back with a new alternator the steering now seems to knock (not connected with the new alterntor)
It is very noticably when it goes to full lock ie when parking or if I move the steering quickly whilst stationary in the garage.
I am assuming that this means that a track rod end has gone but was wondering what the collective think .
Do you have a removeable steering wheel? I had a similar problem for months before solving it by replacing the removeable hub. It usually seemed fine when playing with it stationary, but clearly wasn’t.
track rod or steering rack worn i’d guess.
jack the front of the car up off the ground and wiggle front wheels should show the problem area… might need another assistant to hold/move the steering wheel etc…
