Presumed it must have just been rain dripping onto the rad as the temp gauge was reading 90.
Is this likely to be the cause?
Would have thought so, it’s mentioned in the owners manual as something that could happen - it’s just as the rain always hits the rad

Happens to me as well when I drive off after having parked the car in the rain (especially after a heavy downpour).
Noticed mine doing this yesterday each time I revved in traffic…makes sense though, was worried for a second!!
Quite enjoying the way steam pours at the back of the car when you accelerate off from a standstill in traffic and water runs into the engine bay off the roof, quite dramatic!

happens to mine… conclusion - just rain water collecting in and around the radiator… move along, nothing to see here
