Well, four months have passed since the car was last in action(Oulton Pk trackday). Been under cover with battery conditioner attached. Sun shining, roads dry, blue skies, everything in order for a run out . . . until, she won’t start. Turning over, coughing a bit but no glorious roar. Trying quick battery charge to see what happens. Failing that, jump leads to trusty Astra.
Hmmm. Son suggests that I shd not have left it unstarted for so long. I did not want to start in garage and run only at idle as I feared neat petrol running down bores, washing off what oil was there and thus possibly causing more probs. Son suggests plugs out, turn over on starter, check plugs, re-insert and bingo.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Stuck fuel injectors
What engine ?
Need you ask?
The proper one!
Thanks for suggestions.
Praise the Lord! She goes! And how!
Youngest son called round to sort problem and soon had it roaring gloriously.
He tells me he did it (in my absence) simply by turning it over on the key. Stoppping, taking out key, waiting and repeating the procedure a number of times and when it was coughing, just giving a healthy pump or two on the throttle. Rather than flooding, it fired into life and was idling nicely when I arrived home. I nipped out sharpish for a nightime blast of about 10 miles. Wonderful, made my day.
Good news, Thommo.
Cock-a-Hoop, Mr P, Cock-a-Hoop!
