On starting my Exige S when it is cold it immediately revs to about 3000rpm for a second or so before settling back to a normal idle. This is without touching the accelerator or anything else. Sounds very amateurish and will annoy the hell out of the neighbours when I fit the new sports exhaust next week!!!
The car has done about 4,000km.
Is this normal or do I need to get it looked at by Lotus?

Not sure if it is normal but mine does it. It’s probably a case of TADTS!
My 07 n/a goes to about 2000rpm, Ive presumed its part of the management just initially checking things?

My S is an 06 car built in may. It did the same from new.
Recently i had 16000km service and the dealer told me there was an update for the ecu, it does not do it as much as it did now…

Hadn’t heard of an update for the “S”, only the NA. Any other details?
BTW mine does the 3k blip on start-up too.
i do not think it is an upgrade or anything, the dealer just said they had a newer version of the map on my early 06 car and that they were instructed by Lotus to update customers cars as they came in.
It seems to rev a little less on start up, apart from that i would never have noticed a difference.
