Star Cracks rear Clam!!!

Just wondered if anyone has had any joy with Lotus getting these repaired under warranty? Lotus Engineer has been to check and said its “Impact” related. I await a telephone call from them. Had to point out thou to the dealer that one is under the level of the boot floor and could no way be from articles flying round in the boot. Also having read the issues people have had, I moved the tool kit behind the drivers seat the day after i picked it up!

Had similar response from the Lotus engineer even though my car was brand new and one of the starbursts was behind the wheelarch liner. I negotiated good will from the dealer in terms of discount on servicing but it isn’t really the point when you’ve just parted with 35k.

This, amongst other niggly issues that take forever to reslove, is partly the reason why after 3 new Lotus cars, I’m on my last

I got lotus to go half on mine, it was before they started warning people, apparently a demo cars clam was f#cked after a journo spent a day driving it with his mobile charger in the boot!

No joy when I did it with a wine bottle in early 2005.

I’ve got star cracks on the nearside rear just under the light cluster in a nice oval shape. Looks like someone’s just nudged the bodywork enough to craze the paint but no sign of other damage. Plans (who I bought the car from) didn’t seem to think I could claim under warranty so I assumed I’d just have to swallow it. Plans say they know of another Exige with a matching pair, one each side on the rear and the owner was adamant there hadn’t been any impact.
