Standing start ?

Hi

Ive been out in the exige (2006 non charged with tcs) today and tried a standing start on a private road as ive never actually tried it yet.

I set the revs at around the 4k-5k mark and set the car away only to find it seemed to wheel spin alot, chuck a puff of blue smoke from the back and pull away quite slowly really.

If im totally honest im not sure if the car way spinning 100% of the time as afterwards i had a lovely smell of clutch for a good 15 minutes after. In my s1 elise the car would of usually jumped and little and took off and this just didnt which concerned me that potentially the clutch was slipping after the smell and also the tcs light did not flash at all nor did the tcs do anything by the way it pulled away so could the tcs be not working and it was just all wheel spin for poor start?

Any advice appreciated thanks as im trying to get her 100% for summer

cheers

Clutch slipping if you can smell “rice pudding”…
Also the relatively slow get away is another pointer towards clutch …
No burning rubber smell either ??
What miles has she covered ?

4-5k isn’t enough more like 6k and drop the clutch, it also will shred the standard clutch as they are just not designed for it :frowning:

[quote=lawson77]Hi 41k so not a low miler. Really weird as it has not done it again and under normal hard driving there is no sign of clutch slip or a new clutch biting point or the usual revs running away with themselves. I have done a couple of starts since at about the 5k mark and all seemed fine. I did notice the kind of funny smell again mind ?

Whats the damage on a new clutch fitted ? ish

about 800 for a clutch change

Add another grand to fit a proper diff from quaife and might as well fit Jubu gears at the same time … Total cost 3 grand ! Enjoy x

Guess its a t**t to change and most of the expense is labour
