I was at North Weald at a Carlimits activity day on Friday (fantastic fun!) but whilst waiting in the queue for my go with the car on tickover it stalled! It seemed to take a big gulp of air through the induction, fart and stall. It did this twice more throughout the day.
Any ideas?
(I had the Lotus ECU remap done a few weeks back if that makes any difference).
Recently I had the latest firmware flashed onto my S as it had developed some issues with the DBW throttle at idle.
New firmware fixed the idle problems but interestingly the car has now stalled a couple of times at idle since the reflash where as it had never stalled in 14K miles…
Difficulty is with an intermittent fault that doesn’t show up with an MIL error. Can’t see your average dealer getting tehir head around it. If it gets worse I’ll be dropping it back to Hethel (where they reflashed the ECU).
My 2006 s began stalling at junctions and in slow moving traffic untill a MIL activated pointing to an over rich mixture.I changed the air filter and the car ran much better. No more MILs and stalling. After only 5000 miles since its first service, there was an unbelievable amount of crap in the airbox.
Magicman, had the same problem as you with the car stalling at trafic lights and at idle. No MIL lights which was a problem as the dealer has little to go on. The known Air con problem was mentioned and the pump/unit was replaced. However the stalling returned. Soon after the rev counter started playing up reading aprox 500rpm under. Eventually after being reflashed numerous times and checked on board with the laptop, B&C changed the whole instrument panel (speedo and rev counter)and touch wood it hasn’t done it since.
That said I have had a new throttle body and TPS aswell
My car has this problem. Ive had the ECU flashed but it hasnt helped. It happens with air con on or off. I think the engine ECU occasionally gets court out when you dip the clutch and it does not compensate by stabilizing the revs and it just peters out to a stall. It could happen because it a small capacity engine permanently driving a supercharger. The supercharger should be on a clutch mechanism like the aircon compressor.
