I They said they had a few different ECU programs running in customer’s track biased cars for evaluation and were hoping to offer something to a wider audience later in the year.
the plot thickens…
Isnt it the janspeed manifolds that have been suffering from failures??
Reading between the lines I would suggest that hassling Lotus and quoting Motorsport Department will not assist in getting any type of “track” reflash released to the general public.

Apparantly
Love to know the background behind that comment, especially when it appears (from earlier in this thread) that the ECU is already available from Plans.
About 2 months ago a friend told me he had been speaking to a chap who had this ECU fitted to his Elise/Exige by Plans, or it could have been Brookes, I’m a bit unsure on that.
From what I can gather the chap went and posted info about it on SELOC and was told to remove it as it was all hush hush until it was released to Lotus dealer by Lotus Sport.
At the time I was told it would cost around 500 and would lower the 2nd cam to around 5000rpm…looks like the price has gone up to 750 now…Anyway that my understanding of it, but it did come from a friend of a friend type thing so take it on face value.

He was politely asked to remove the post on Seloc… but the rest seems accurate… as I understand it.
Just give Motorsport a chance here guys…
No idea how Plans source theirs though. Anyone want to ask Graham to post up what it is and what it does? Any warranty issues with it?
I dont get your last post?? Who is motorsport and why should I give him a chance??
If you phone Graham directly im sure he will give you all the info you need!!
I notice Graham from Plans has conspicuously not commented on this thread - assume Lotus has insisted he keep it hush hush for now. I really wish they (Lotus) would treat their customers like adults, even if its just to say ‘were are working on it but its not ready’ rather than all this daft secrecy with one part of the company denying any knowledge.
Standard Lotus practise: Nothing officially exists until they’re ready to announce it. If they admitted to anything now, they’d just get more people harassing them about when it will be available.
I guess for now you should either be patient, or talk to Plans.
Well put Brendan! I guess that you have to spell it out in detail on here, no point in being subtle.
They “may” be a kit in the offing… it would not be available to anyone commercially until it has been signed off by Lotus. Hassling them on the basis of hearsay that “someone” has already got it will not do anyone any favours.
It would also mean that in future I would guess that development units would not be made available to anyone outside Lotus thanks to certain induviduals who couldn’t keep their trap shut!
I for one will be very interested when it is available

BFODING to the last comment [about asking Plans]!
Its not about Lotus treating customers as adults… its about commercial development and marketing v gossip amongst Lotus owners.
Who is Motorsport? I would have thought it fairly clear that any track based upgrade for the Exige would be the project of Lotus Motorsport.

What does BFODING mean Take it that means you don’t agree
Quite understandable that Lotus would want to keep major future plans quiet (like new models) but I can’t see any harm in them telling their customers they are working on something as minor as an ECU upgrade, especially when some cars have already been upgraded. Anyway, it sounds from what Jamie says above that Emerald might offer a good alternative if the Lotus ECU mods never officially see the light of day.
Incidentally I don’t think of lowering the cam change over as being particularly a track biased upgrade. For me the biggest benefit would be on the road - sometimes it would be nice to be able to make rapid progress without having to rev the engine beyond 6k all the time.

I’m very surprised that there was not a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement for anyone trialling a new ECU. If there was then its a poor show someone broke it, and if there wasn’t then I would assume that Lotus were OK with someone talking about it.
It is also interesting from the warranty perspective, as the owner I would have wanted an assurance that if the new ECU did any damage it would be covered by the company. I would also wonder what the insurance company might say?
OK you guys clearly know best. Carry on as you were.
PS. BFODING means that I wholeheartedly agree with the statement that if you are so interested in the reflash then phone Graham at Plans and ask him instead of idly speculating on here.
As for NDA’s etc when I had my Sport 160 Nick Adams department were working on the “Driveability kit” I had the ECU and everything else fitted and gave them feedback. It was all done on trust, only a shame that with the increased chattering on the various forums trust seems to have failed here.

If you want to make petulant and sarcastic comments like that and can’t keep the tone friendly and constructive can I respectfully suggest that SELOC may be a more appropriate forum for you to frequent!

I would very much like to respond to that comment but my good nature hinders me from doing so. Unless you are fully aware of all the facts (which you are obvioulsy not) I would suggest you take note of your own advise!!
