Anglesey in the Exige revealed a new experience in a Lotus! Squealing tyres!
I have not used AO48’s before, but everytime the tyre was really loaded up… ie: in every corner and under braking, the tyres just squealed away!
My S1 Exige and S2 Elise never squealed… is this because they were on R888’s or is it they were just so much lighter that the tyres were not protesting as much?
Has anyone else any experience squealing with either AO48’s or Toyo R888’s on a ‘heavy’ Exige S… or is it just me!
Yep I’m picking up on that mate…but honestly I think its worse at Anglesey, as with the same set up at OP it’s ok and squeal almost none existent. When I changed to Donny settings at Anglesey not much squeal…car became quite neutral. I am no expert mate but my 888’s squealed like a pig from the front for a full TD and a half until I changed it and this has only EVER been so bad at that paticular circuit usually at the first corner out of the pits and both hairpins. Why don’t you try a different circuit because if I go out on track anywhere usually I do it first thing on what I drove the car there on and I have not actually given it much thought until your post.
Arh mate Im willing to be blown away by anyone who thinks Im wrong, Im looking to learn and take on board as its only now after 5 years of TDs Im starting to notice the important things. I only actually use the Lotus or recommended Ohlin set ups from track to track experimenting with any of them after Ive found the line and sometimes maybe stiffening up very slightly the front if I find myself late braking too often for one reason or another. Its really interesting stuff and there is always somewhere to click back too should you feck it up
Only consistent once you’ve found the optimum set up for that particular car, driver and track…rocket science mate when you keep modding or like me have just really started!
