No more wing envy for me. I’ve made a hybrid S1/S2 wing
Thanks to Russ T for supplying the S1 wing, and thanks to Ian at Nick Whale for sourcing a reject S2 wing from Lotus Sport act as a donor for the supports.
I also cut the endplates off the S1 wing and then bolted them back on so it looks almost like a standard S2 item. This also gives me the option of changing the design in the future.
I’d like to colour code it, but I’ve never had any luck with gloss painting. The satin black is easy to do without any polishing etc. I wanted to do the job myself to ensure it turned out exactly how I wanted it. The plan is one day I’ll get it colour coded professionally, along with the side pods and front splitter.
The standard wing doesn’t really wobble as such. You can move it about because the engine cover isn’t solidly fixed, but it’s perfectly stiff enough for job. Mine seems to be no different.
It’ll be interesting to see how it compares with Pesky’s wing if I bolt on some massive squareish endplates
I’m happy that all of the comments so far agree that it looks better.
I deliberately set out not to make a significant change to the downforce. To be honest, I can barely tell the difference with no wing at all on the road.
