Speedo reads too fast, even at idle !

Yo

Speedo reads 10mph too fast across the range.
At idle its reading 10mph.
Can I just open up speedo and undo counter and then replace so it starts at zero ?
I mean unclick clock thing that shows your speed and replace 1 bit lower.

Not that I know how to get into speedo, but seems reasonable

Thanks

John

I’d try a dash reset first and failing that disconnect the battery for 2 mins

isnt there a reset trick involving keeping the accelerator pressed when turning the key (or something similar)?

I think you do the following

Turn car off

Hold the trip reset button

Turn the ignition to 2nd position (not cranking)

Keep the trip button pressed for 10 secs

Bingo !!!

Didn’t work for me so I just disconnected the battery

If the reset procedure doesn’t work (that’s, it can be reset, but the problem re-occurs after a short while), the cluster is faulty and should be replaced under warranty. Happened to me. Upside: you start again at 0 miles.

Chris is spot on. I had the same problem when i had the S2, disconnected the battery for 10 mins and reconnected, problem solved.

Have had some problems with the speedo on my S, intermittently stops working or significantly under reads. Was in with Lotus dealer for an oil leak and they did a reset. Was OK for a while but problem has returned. Dealer pretty good and promised to take up with Lotus, so far have been very helpful, so guess it will be back to Westover.
