As I usually use a ramp at my tame mechanics to change the oil and check over the car etc, I don’t ever have the car serviced officialy anymore because of this, however I think I really should change the spark plugs as I don’t think they were ever done in the routine servicing while I still had it done, so can anyone tell me what the correct plugs should be?
Found these on Ebay but I’m not sure…
Ebay linky
NGK IFR6A11
DENSO SK20R11
Gap = 1.1 mm
service interval 54000 m or 6 year
Blimey 54k miles or six years…
Might replace them anyway as they must now be 3 years old and only really gets driven on track…
Service intervals are based on normal usage (what ever that is !)so if its tracked a lot than they would need changing sooner, but by how much who knows.
yeah service intervals are set at standard power levels as well mate. I would be changing them at every 20k at the most!
Early 240 R and Cup cars advised a plug change at every service, if memory serves me right.
If you haven’t changed them, then I would do soon.
Really early cars had Blitz plugs fitted, at +30 each.
We do stock an alternative though right John?
Last time I checked, the cheapest place to get them was Lotus.
After all these years, it had to happen!!!
You better stick a new set in for me then as well, it’s done 18k without a change
FFS - it’s like the shopping channel has come to exiges.com.
PMSL
SC Jonny, NA’s are 54k
Now that’s why I come to you…
So after all that, buy them from Lotus as they are cheap, shame my Lotus dealer is a 60+ mile round trip, I love an excuse to drive the car
This was a couple of years ago however, things may have changed
I have a friend who has an account with NGK, he might be able to get some good prices on a group buy sort of thing.
Let me know which plugs are needed and i’ll ask.
These are iridiums and should cost about 8+VAT each.
