to go on a bit but if I cant really get more power yet how about getting rid of weight? Does anyone know how I can get rid of some of the weight of my car? I’ve changed the exhaust for a really light 2bular example but I want to keep the passenger seat etc. Its an exige S which is 930kg anyway but then has sport and touring pack so probably weighs at least 960kg. (We have a weighbridge day shortly)
I know the best mod for track work to make you faster other than driver skill is suspension but if I went down this route ohlins are expensive at 2500. Any thoughts?
How many trackdays have you done in the Exige S, & where?
Why do you believe more power is needed?

I’ve done a lot of uk trackdays in other cars but only the nurburgring twice in the Exige. Coming out of bends it feels like it needs more power. I try be as smooth as I can and take good lines to maximise my corner entry and exit but the chasis seems like it could easily take another 40hp. The A048’s when hot are just amazing. I think it’s because I came from Evo’s. I know it’s a different way of track driving in an Exige and its much more fun aswell. The evo was boring and didnt need any real skill to drive.
I’m not really complaining its just i went to the ring twice and did pretty much the same kind of laptimes (i dont actually time) so would be nice to go a 3rd and 4th time with a little more power or a better setup car, just something to keep me on my toes really.
Fair enough, Alric

Sounds about right. Especially Geo, our cars are cronic understeerers from the factory. Get some more negative camber at the front and rear…
I would also up the spring rates, especially at the rear. All the extra weight in the S is in the rear and yet the rates are unchanged from the std car. Look at the rates the euro cup cars run for a good road/track compromise…or see the U.S. cup car rates for a track only set up.
There will also be a Carbon roof from sector 111 coming which will improve flow to the intercooler to increase efficiency and it will be lighter to take a few high up kgs out of the car. i think the RED Motorsport one is also Carbon with a bigger vent.
