I have a standard one off the car I can measure, or you could pop around and measure.
Spoke to the guy from Larini today…they too state an 8bhp increase for this pipe. He said he’d email me the measurement…still waiting. I mentioned to him about the Motobuild pipe and got a cough…cough…wouldn’t like to comment! THe only comment he would say was that they (Larini) manufacture it in there own stainless steel workshop. And then silence…make of that what you will!
Ian
My whole exhaust is off the car as well - send me the diagram and I’ll measure as well!!
Well Moto-build confirmed Larini make their exhaust (which through the power of bulk buying they manage to sell for near 20% less than Larini, good news! ).
They are going to try and get an Exige one for me shortly, which they say is about 3 inches longer than the Elise one. They want to try it on a car first before they get more of them.
On the guarantee, Moto-build say that life-time manufacturer warranties often have a clause stating the exhaust needs written proof of an annually check. So Moto-build just offer a 6 year no quibble guarantee.
I’ve sent the diagram to Simon and Mike but Rooney your e-mail is not in your profile. If you let me have it I’ll send you the diag for Larini. When we get the size of standard exhaust back it may help them get the Exige one right.
Ian
THanks Ian, My email is [email protected] . As for the lifetime guarantee my mate is a mech at Dunfermline auto centre, he should be able to do some sort of annual inspection for free.
For the lifetime guarantee you’ll have to get it from Larini themselves (possibly for an extra 65!) and check the guarantee small print.
You have mail!
Ian
Nice bit of detective work on the Moto-Build/Larini front well worth knowing, however, are you sure they build an exige zorst ?? i have been keeping tabs on th eLarini for a wee while and they recently told me they hadn’t finalised one for the exige.
ARE YOU SURE they are not brazenly palming you an elise zorst on the expectation that it will fit ??
Moto-build want to fit one of the Larini Exige zorsts to my car so they know it fits properly before they get any more.
That said, once we get the measurements back we’ll know if the Elise one is already alright. Phil confirmed the hangers/mountings are the same, so it’s just the depth.
Ian
excellent… then we will know if we have another option… assuming you are going to goforit ??
…assuming you are going to goforit ??
If it fits and proves not too loud that is the plan.
Ian
Any Elise zorst will fit, its the tailpipes that need to be longer to exit the clam.
Sorry phil, should have been clearer, that’s what I meant by ‘fitting’.
Ian
Okay, the std Exige exhaust is about 17.5-18 inches deep (thought I’d use larger units, more room for error, approx 45cm); from the back point of the entry pipe (not the mounting plate the pipe itself) to the tip of the exhaust’s exit pipes. This sticks out about an inch from the clam.
If this is 3 inches more than a S1 Elise, I’d expect the Larini to be 15-16 inches (40cm).
Ian
ps. Thanks to Simon & Elaine for letting me measure theirs, drink all their juice and my son destroy their house and chase the cat!
Rooney, Larini are apparently getting hold of an Exige to try and fit one to/make one for.
Would that be yours?
Mine’s not expected until late May/early June now.
Ian
Nah its not mine, Dave Clark at Larini said a two week delivery.
