I have also heard somewhere that Goodyear are now doing tyres in the right sizes, in the Eagle F1 range. Obviously not going to be the track tyre of choice, but maybe a decent / cheaper road tyre…Cheers

Had the rear tyres changed at Haydons last Friday.Not totally convinced of the right tyre to fit I opted for the no brainer. Yes I had the AO39s fitted again.However I am now going to spend the time before the next change researching and eagerly reading reviews on other tyres.Just for information it took Haydons 2.5 hours to fit and cost �447.53, bargain!!! I think not.PS they still believe that the AO49’s are track tyres according to information from their suppliers?.

Absolute Mare !Ignore my previous comment about two A039s being �410 fitted a Gordon LambsHere follows a sorry tale.1. Ordered two rear AO39s (gave the exact spec) on Monday 29th July for fitting on Wednesday 7th August. 2. Attended Gordon Lambs in person on Tuesdsay 6th August to confirm tyres had arrived.3. Duly turned up at 9:30am on Wednesday 7th August to be told that tyres that had been sent were Bridgestones. WHAT! Went to get in my car which was being washed (I think in an attempt to make up for not having my tyres in). Hot day so wound down my window, leant over to wind down passenger window and what happens ? Anyway - phoned Peter Smiths up and Daniel is doing them for �414 inc VAT fitted [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]And another thing - On the way in on work on Wednesday I took a longer route through Stoney Middleton as they’re bloody tar spraying between Hope and Hathersage, only to come across some chippings on my alternative route. Bugger!. A stone must have flirted up and got stuck somewhere round my near-side front disc/wheel and made a bit of a racket. I’d asked Gordon Lambs to check it out and see if they could firtle the offending chipping out from it’s resting place. Later - I was told me my steering Rack was causing it ! I know Peter Smiths are reckoned to be on the pricey side but I don’t feel confident about getting any work done at Gordons.What did Jilted John say about Gordon ?So then I had to go over to Macc to Halfords for some Metal Bonding two pack glue (as reccommended by trawling through the archives on the Elise BBS) so I can fix the poxy window myself tomorrow.It was not a good day for me yesterday.Just had to get that off my chest.Thanks, Tim

TimJust got full set of 48’s fitted for �616 incl vat and fitting. Mucho better than the 39’s.

Mike - Yep - I hear what you’re saying but I’m struggling to find that extra �200 at the moment. There’s loads of life left in my fronts (must try harder) - but in another 6000 miles I’ll look to have AO48s all round.You’re impressed with the AO48s then - Grippier and more longevity ?Thanks, Tim

TimGrip on the road is fab - absolutely no under steer at all - I’ve never driven on slicks but imagine thats what they would be like - try them at brands tomorrow - only just fitted them so don’t know about length of life- in the wet they ain’t to bad-about as twitchy as the 39’s.Dude - theyre as grippy as a gold digger at a funeral in Essex!
