I’ve mentioned on previous posts that my car has always shudders slightly when setting off from a stand still. If I set off with more revs than you would usually use, and slip the clutch more, the car doesn’t seem to shudder.
I initally thought it could the clutch, but the clutch seems fine and I would of thought any hotspots would of worn down by now. I also then thought it could be the engine mounts - I’ve got quite solid engine mounts which probably don’t help.
My car does however have the factory fitted LSD. Speaking to a friend, he thinks the LSD could cause the shuddering? I dont really know anything about the different LSD’s so I couldn’t really comment, but I’d be curious to know what people think?
I know some of the uprated paddle type clutches judder when pulling away, fidanza for example so it could just be that. I would guess that an lsd would be pretty much redundant unless its trying to spin or you are cornering.
I’m sure someone who know a great deal more than I do on these matters will be along soon tho.
As far as I know, still on standard clutch. Certainly not a paddle clutch anyway. The shuddering is not a big problem, I’m just curous as the cause.
Can anyone confirm what LSD lotus fit in the Exiges?
It’s a plate type LSD - pita!!!
If you are setting off in a straight line with no wheel spin then it shouldn’t be the LSD. It’s redundant if both wheels are turning at the same speed.
Could be a little oil or grease on the clutch plate or damaged clutch centre springs.
Alternativel it could be one of the engine mounts on its way out. What’s the tip in tip out like on hard throttle when driving, is there much engine rock?
