Silverstone

WOW

I took the afternoon off school (due to an aptly timed Dentist appointment ) and went to see the testing, and, even though there was only one car (the rest are in Monza), and even though that car was driven by Tiago Monteiro, it was awesome .

After being told that under no circumstances were we to leave the Luffield area we promptly made our way down to Copse and then on to the astonishing complex of Maggotts, Beckets and Chapel; after which we wondered into the pits, the MF1 people were incredibly friendly and just let you wonder about, we had complete access to the whole of the pit garage, only when I inadvertently wondered into the Briefing room did they ask me to go back out into the main Garage, great guys ; come to think of it everyone was really friendly, I even blagged a tour of the BRDC building.

Anyway, most of the day was spent up at the top of the circuit, watching Tiago come though Priory, Luffield and then disappear down the straight. More than anything its that beautiful, pure sound the cars make that stood out for me. Great day, made better by meeting John Thorney who was there with a very tasty M3 CSL.

Oh, and on top of that, two gorgeous S2 Exiges drove past us when we were down at Maggotts, as if you havent got the picture already, I had a great day .

David

Nice report David.

It’s easy to forget, but even one of the slowest F1 cars on the grid is still an utterly amazing piece of machinery to watch on track.

I agree, the speed of direction change at Maggots/Becketts is amazing and seems to defy the laws of physics.

Now back to school with you young man!

Really pleased you enjoyed it David Shame there was only 1 car, but what a thrill to get into the garage etc - well done

As Alex says, get some bloody work done now!

Forgot to say, I also got a scoop of the new MF1 wing (notice the redesigned winglets on the wing endplate )
