Silverstone GP June 29th - LOT & Lotus Cars

Some videos have been added to the Lotus Vimeo Group

Had a great day. Good to meet up with people again. First time on the GP circuit and I was very pleasantly surprised. Even though there are a lot of long straights there’s definitely enough technical stuff to keep you occupied, and some nice high speed corners.

Couple of pictures

Video to follow when it gets out of the Vimeo queue.

But at least I have got some hair even if it is blue rinsed

Dude can’t find the video on vimeo

There now. Few problems in the edit

Tidy lap Will

You missed the guy at Stowe indicating for you to pass during the corner and lost a good clean lap.

Just re-watched it and you didn’t miss an indicate, it was a fly on your screen that lined up with his light! :stuck_out_tongue:

My god that second lap was horrific! You have the patience of a saint my good man!

Some gentle laps

Nice laps and you managed to find some pretty clear track.

Will, did you try the alternative line through Luffield? As you come out of Brooklands make no real attempt to get over to the left until you have grip to spare. Then as you come up to Luffield aim the car towards the orange escape marker on the fencing as if your going to drive full throttle off the track, mid corner break hard and turn the car on it’s nose in a ‘V’ shape back the other way. This stops scubbing off speed out of Brooklands, does away with the trundling around the inside of Luffield looking for camber and gives you a better run through bridge but isn’t as defensive in a race. It’s best in the dry but can be used in the very wet as a line that reduces the chance of spinning on exit of Brooklands and Luffield.

No…

but I’ll give it a try next time I’m back.

Nah, must have been when I chucked the keys to Randy…

PS Damper settings? I’ve not altered mine for 2 years now, & to be honest I’ve absolutely no idea whatsoever what clickage they’re on. As long as the car feels okay, I drive it as it is, cos I’m not into timing, & I’m certainly no racing god. Same with tyre pressures really, just set them at 26psi all round after a session, so they’re “hot” & they feel right! Eat your heart out Ross! At the end of the day, the Edwards Boyz geo tweaking, plus minor tyre pressure fiddlin by me sets it all up for an enjoyable trackday! [/quote]

Well gotta have some excuse why you were so much further ahead of me

New set of Randy spec dampers all round and my first time to really give them track time, my first impressions were OK but I didnt feel as confident as before, the springs are harder so less roll, but the damping seemed to lack rebound, adding a few clicks transformed it and having discussed it at the time with Randy he reminded me mine is 875 kilos so on the heavy side … They will now be left alone
