quite a few of you have fitted these side scoops. how are they actually glued on? i can only imagine a flange along the top and bottom edges of the part onto which glue can be applied? has anyone pics from the inside of an unfitted part? might get busy in the workshop at the weekend…
I like the idea of these, but from the picture above it actually looks like the scoop restricts air into the engine bay
Without taking a car to MIRA, does anyone have any idea on the effects?
doing a with and without scoop test with an air flow meter placed in the engine bay side of the intake would quickly clarify if the cup is catching more air and therefore providing the intake with a greater supply of pressurised air.
it looks like it should work.
now i don’t know whether i want them now. i had better build a wind tunnel first…
I’d say they would definately give increased air through the vents, a bit crude but cup your hand and hold it out of the window at speed and feel the difference in pressure between side on and palm on, the air cant come back out from behind the scoop so it must get forced more efficiently into the side vents.
A bumpkin type of experiment but oi am from glozershire an oi can drive a tracter
I have been manufacturing and using these scoops for two and a half years now and can say that i have noticed a reduction in engine temperature by a few degrees and also a better induction as i have the air filter directly in front of the inlet creating a ram air affect.
As for fixing them in place. The scoops i make have an internal flange that sits perfectly onto the rear clam I recommend a silcaflex type adhesive available from all good car assesory shops.
I hope this is of use. If you want any more info then pm me and i will try to help.
