Side pods

Whats peoples thoughts on removing the mesh completely?. I have the reverie wider pods and some 4 inch ducting to the 2 Eleven shroud. I know the mesh is quite restricting and if i removed it totally, it would literally take me 10 mins to pull the shroud off the back of the cooler to hoover and clean it. Even if big stones flew in through the pods i cant see anything that would get damaged.
Any reasons why this is a bad idea.

I cant see any problems in removing it but are you having excess heat problem’s as it is ?
Mine never pulled the ignition timing with twin 4 inch side ducts and standard mesh.

The last track day i did was fairly hot, 24- 25 degrees. I could feel a bit of power loss at the end of long sessions so nothing to keep me awake at night but if things can be improved by losing a couple of grams of metal then i’m happy to do give it a go.

Your car is mint TopCat, loving the rarity factor of yours, especially in that colour

I’m very envious

Enjoy

That’s lovely of you chalkey but it don’t cool his interwarmer down lol
Hahaha

Not had mesh in my side pods since I fitted the carbon ones, not had any issues with getting stuff where it should not be. I do however run a charge cooler so I don’t have to worry about junk build up on the intercooler

There is a fleet of them! on Pistonheads at the moment. Mine handles a bit better than a bus, but they have all popped up for sale at once it seems. :open_mouth:
(edit that) the aquamarine one appears to have gone again.

Not THE Aquamarine one lol!

What’s THE story behind it? I’ve seen it advertised maybe 3 times over the last year or so…

The Aqua is back I must have missed it before. It was for sale for while last year, and the price has dropped by about 4k. I bet the other two owners selling theirs are a bit miffed about that appearing. :imp:

have also been very tempted to do this, worry about spray from the motorway pouring in there though and soaking the air filter

It’s a good point that Mil. I have the enclosed TRD fitted though so shouldn’t have this worry. It would be quite easy to fit temporary mesh with the right magnets if rain entering was a worry.

yea same I have the TRD to suppose it is quit well enclosed
might just give it a go at some point

Ran mine without mesh and a TRD for over a year and in very heavy rain, not sure how mesh is going to stop water?
