Anyone changed the front side light lamp to a very bright, white LED?
Specifically the separate side light, not the one inside the dip beam lens.
I like to drive with side lights on all the time, a brighter LED obviously would be better.

That may be true but I prefer to do it myself than pay someone 
Maybe I should remove the lamp and do an eBay search.
Don’t buy cheap, I ended up replacing mine with a pair from halfords of all places, ran them for a couple of years before selling, they are just capless w5w bulbs 
They will very likely need a ballast resistor fitting as well as just the led unit, otherwise you can end up with errors or burned wiring as the system wasn’t designed to use them.
Personally I don’t like them or any sort of higher output bulbs as they can cause problems for oncoming drivers too.
Indeed there is currently a major study ongoing by the UN on exactly this issue due to increased accident rates caused by dazzle.
I also looked at the halo rings to add a DRL style to mine but in the end just could not be bothered with the time it would take to engineer it into the headlight, the white led bulbs for me were enough extra brightness
