Stop it George you’re scaring me. Next you’ll be talking about “Exigeness”.
Heh, fear not, I’ll spare you that… for now.
And Exigeboy… I take your point and you’re entitled to your opinion, but the Exige is much more of a cult car than the Esprit ever was, the fact that the S1 Exige exists today in numbers less than 500, and they’re the only Lotus that shares that look (bar the Motorsport Elise racer) then they’re BOUND to be the better bet financially long-term than the S2.
Alls I know is that when my S1 is parked next to an S2, there’s always a crowd that gathers around the S1, the poor S2 doesn’t even get a look in

Don’t the S1’s already have trouble passing emission tests? What if they make the tests stricter?

Generally, governments never pass legislation making it tougher on cars already in circulation. Making a large chunk of the legal fleet illegal tends to majorly piss off voters you see.

I think the issue here is with people upgrading cars generally which generally involve removing the cat. Then the car will not make the emissions test. i don’t think new emissions tests or lower values are applied retrospectively.
I did 25000km in an S1 since february 2007 - as an everyday car and enjoyed every second! I agree it’s a completely different car (performance, characteristic, built quality, etc.etc.etc.)
get 3-point-belts for city traffic (additional to the 4-point-harness) and you’ll be ok for any occasions.
It’s for sure not ‘the better car’ in the common sense, but for sure it’s more spectacular
The S1 is far away from a comfy perfect racer, but it’s breathtaking fantastic adorable in it’s own way… love it or leave it (I guess I LOVE it )
I sold my S1 and got an S2S, all my driving is on the road and the S2 is far more competent for this type of driving. But every time I see a picture of my old S1 I just want it back! :0(
