Short or Long tailed

Hello, my car is a bit of an odd ball. Judging by the year it should be a long tail (very early rover elise S2), but I think it might have been converted to a short tail by a previous owner. Does anyone know how to tell for sure? Sorry if its obvious, I just want to be sure before buying a hardtop for it.

Thanks,
Dave.

It should be pretty simple to just look at the panel that fits over the roll hoop / rear windscreen or the soft top if self?

I had an early S2 with long tail roof which was converted at lotus’ expense due to them not being able to get the long tail roof to stop leaking. They welded some brackets on and fitted a new fibreglass panel over the roll hoop as far as I can remember.

Do the long tail cars have a different roof which extends down the back of the car. My cars roof is just a rectangle that rolls on. The others look different, is this an easy way to tell ?

The long and short of it is

Awesome, thats what I thought. Mine is the one on the right. Thank you for that.
