I know it’s been said before but the standard Alpine (or blaupunkt if your car is older) stereo and speakers are absolutely shocking. I’ve just spent 180 on the latest Pioneer CD/USB/Radio head unit and it even comes with built in Parrot bluetooth - great considering I was going to have to fit a separate parrot kit anyway. I’ve also replaced the puny 4 inch front speakers and 5.25 inch rears with 5.25 inch JL Audio 2 ways all round. Theres a guy on Lotustalk that sells speaker adapter rings to enable the fronts to be replaced with 5.25 inch speakers for $40. The difference in sound is night and day…I just can’t believe I suffered with the standard setup for as long as a month. I know have proper bass, midrange, treble, volume…better still as the built in parrot blue tooth kit is powered by the 50w pioneer amp I can actually hear my phone caller…as loud as i like in fact!
I know some of you on here only track your Exiges so this thread will be completely pointless…for the rest of us though trust me when I say updating the standard stereo makes the whole ownership experience so much better.
i would have to agree on this. standard are shocking. i have alpine 60w x 4 with parrot blutooth. and pioneer 10inch sub in footwell with upgraded alpine speakers and its a great sound. alpine standard aint too bad ALOT better than blaupunkt
If I wasnt the wrong side of 35 I’d love a sub in the passenger footwell. I only listen to early indie and some rock so don’t warrant a sub as much as some of the young bass heads you see cruising around…I just love a decent sound. Just incase I ever pluck up the courage who made your enclosure (I assume it’s a custom made job)?
obviously take out the footwell sub for track days! unless you like that cinema’esq car chase feel of music blaring so loudly that you cant hear anything else …fun but sensory overload when driving hard. Then again you wont have to hear the inevitable crash noises!
I have never really had a problem with the standard set up, the S1 was pants but the Alpine set up on my S2 is fine for what it is. I do have an upgraded Alpine head unit for the blutooth but I cant see that making a difference really.
Yes the stereo is easy to hear once you have half decent speakers and head unit. As for the mic placement for the bluetooth you simply fit it on the inside of the A pillar. Any parrot installer would fit it there…nearest your gob when chatting. Both music and taking/making phone calls are easily heard…in fact people comment of being able to hear me better now than when I used to have to shout into the phone when driving.
