She's home... rev limiter issues follow up

Picked her up last night from South West Lotus at Lifton (big thanks guys) back to her sporty self!

To recap, the car would not rev past 6000 without the change up light coming on and the limiter cutting in at 6500.

The problem was diagnosed as a failed cam timing controller.

Whilst in bits the cam chain was checked and was way out of tolerance, there was found to be unusual wear in the crank sprocket (12,500 miles) and so both were replaced. These are designed for 100,000 maintenance free miles!!!

It was also discovered that the garage that fitted my 2ubular didn’t refit the heatshields. This had melted through the wheel arch liner and scorched the clam! Glad that was discovered BEFORE the next trackday!

Central locking module had also given up the ghost and needed replacement.

Driving home last night, even in the pouring rain, with the car back to her performing best the thrill of driving smile returned to my face.

Which heatsheild was not installed? which liner melted o/s or n/s I only ask as I don’t have some of mine installed any more and you now have me worried…

Ta

Near side, the liner had melted and clam stating to scorch and that was with minimal road use! A track day with a glowing exhaust could have been very dangerous.

Are you talking about the one that goes on the bend between the cat and the box? If so I have not had that one for nearly a year
I have had no issues so far but now I am going to look rather closer at the arch liner.
