SELOC Speed Championship

Well the MOD haven’t given the go ahead for a sprint at Odiham for next season.

Couple of options then.

  1. Brands on 15 Sep - very expensive
  2. Look at another north weald date in September
  3. Debden early October - my choice but will have to get us an invite.
  4. Curborough early October
  5. Lydden Hill end of October - could well be very wet… and cold.
  6. No event :frowning:

Thoughts?

Update on the Sprint Champs.

Dates for next year are now in, please let me know very soon if people have any great aversion to any of the events. June is slightly congested, unfortunately the Snetterton date that was to be in May has moved to June.

The dates for next season are below:
18/3/12 - North Weald
24/3/12 - Castle Combe
28/4/12 - Goodwood
3/6/12 - Snetterton
9/6/12 - Abingdon
23/6/12 - Castle Combe
5/8/12 - Hethel
TBC - Curborough - cocked the dates up and it clashes with Hethel. Hoping to re-arrange for the 16/9/12 there.
7/10/12 - Debden

I have the option of Honington on the 13th May instead to break up June if required, but we will loose Snetterton due to this.

What are your thoughts?

Regs nearly sorted as well, just trying to tweak the formula as it’s slightly favouring Sport 160 and 190 cars at the moment.

Regards,

Keith

I’ve had a question with regards non road legal cars running in the Champs. Trying to work out the feasibility of this and have attempted to adjust the regs to allow those with non road going 211s and track day cars to compete.

Please see the wording and let me know if you agree:

3 TECHNICAL REGULATIONS

3.1 Eligible Vehicles:

3.1.1 All cars produced by Lotus are eligible, cars from other manufactures will be considered on a case-by-case basis through the Championship Administrator and Championship Co-ordinator. Vehicles must comply with MSA general technical and safety regulations as per MSA competitors’ yearbook as appropriate.

3.1.2 The SELOC Speed Championship does not require that any cars are taxed, insured or have an MOT certificate whilst running under its own regulations at qualifying events. All vehicles must however, conform to the regulations governing Road Going Series Production (Section S 11 in MSA 2012 yearbook), outside of the need for tax, insurance and MOT. Nevertheless, contenders must comply with MSA regulations regarding the classification of competing vehicles in the events they are taking part (i.e. non road legal vehicles will have to further conform with the additional requirements of non road going classes).

3.1.3 Only factory fitted automatic systems for controlling engine and/or brakes based on wheel speed sensors (i.e. traction control, launch control, full throttle gear change, anti-lock brakes, automatic stability enhancement systems) are permitted for use within the SELOC Speed Championship, aftermarket systems are not permitted; this restriction applies to both practice and official timed runs at any qualifying round. If such a system is fitted to a car it must be demonstrably disabled (for example by at least one wheel sensor physically and demonstrably unplugged, or control unit disconnected and removed from the vehicle). Refusal to disconnect a fitted traction control system would result in exclusion from the event results.

3.3 Classes:

3.3.1 The Championship will run three classes:

Class A: Normally aspirated road legal factory cars
Class B: Forced induction road legal factory cars
Class C: Engine converted cars (i.e. Audi, Honda, Duratec), non road legal and invited cars (i.e VX220)

The organising clubs of events that are qualifying rounds of the SELOC Speed Championship will be requested to combine the classes for the Championship. For the purpose of allocating handicap points, the classes at each event shall be regarded as combined and points will be awarded based upon handicap results taking all SELOC Speed contenders into consideration.

Note 1: Cars running in Classes A, B and C are permitted to run any List 1A or List 1B tyres listed in the MSA Blue Book but must record their seasons tyre category choice on their SELOC Speed Championship entry form prior to competing at their first event.

Curborough now confirmed for the 16th September 2012.

All now approved and sanctioned by the MSA. Events are also all confirmed so this is now live.

Please see here for more details and to sign up.
