Selling the exige

Its a funny thing, I just cant quite push the button to do it…
I know I should, its not getting driven, we’re hopefully starting a family soon and I could use the money to fund a kitchen then I won’t need to dip into my savings (I have a plan to get rid of the mortgage as fast as possible)…
Its the sensible thing to do obviously, but still I’m not sure I can…
Not sure why really, its just a car isn’t it…?
I’v never had this problem before, but I suppose I was always upgrading or changing for a reason, this time the garage will be empty…
I could buy a nice S1, cheap to run, that way I still have a toy, and use the difference for the kitchen, I just don’t think it will be the same. Maybe I should just go cold turkey for a while…
These cars really get under your skin

You can keep all the good memories that you and the car have shared. Unless your getting on a bit like me and have to check sometimes what colour it is.
You can always buy another when the situation is right in the future. Building a Home and starting a family will create even better times and memories that will last even longer than the plastic car itself. (Can’t believe I just spouted that ).

Think of it as good as cash in the bank m8…
It ain’t losing money at the moment (unlike property)
Just sorn it for a while and come back to it when yer kitchen is done.
A cheap s1 will cost you for sure with repairs and the inevitable upgrades you’ll want to do !

Keep it if you can. Once you have kids it would be hugely more difficult to justify the self indulgent extravagance of purchasing another fun car. If its already banked by the time the kids arrive then keeping it is much easier to reconcile yourself with. Just my $0.02

Agree with Ben

You can’t put a price on pleasure Boothy , pretty sure you would regret it long term now your Exige is how you like it .

get an evora then kids will fit too…

Yeah its a tough one. An S1 elise doesn’t need to be that expensive though and would satisfy your itch every now and then when you need to go for a blast.

Boothys S2 is a shed load faster than an S1 unless there’s an engine change .

Agreed, but there is more to having fun in a car than going fast.

Really ?!

That’s rich coming from you fella

Look at those boys that race 2CV’s with something like 7 BHP. On the limit, is on the limit, as the saying goes.

A standard S1, or something a bit special like a Sport 160 would be financially sound and a real hoot in my opinion.

just think an S1 would feel really slow compared to a 260hp S2 once you have had one . maybe it’s just me but one of the main attractions of a performance car for me is the performance .

And in years to come, when the kids look at your photos of the car then look up at you wide-eyed and ask “Daddy, why did you sell it?”, your answer will be…?

I agree with what your saying about the 2CVs though , the Metro series is the best racing I have seen , not sure I could live with one as a road car though

Mate if your car is not finished for Anglesey get yourself a 2CV dude

I’m sure we’d all have a lot of fun buzzing you all day.

Do it, it would be fookin hilarious.

Those are my thoughts too Sean, a nice tidy S1 is a classic. The one Chris has as an example is one of only two.
Some times I actually feel my car is too fast for the roads and I have had more fun in my old 111s. Something with 140 or so bhp and a CR box with a nice road set up should be pretty cheap to keep and run on a 3k a year policy plus the odd track day.

I love my car to bits but I just don’t get much time to use it atm and sadly although I can afford to keep it the justification of doing so when things like kitchens and kids are looming is getting ever more difficult.

I did order a new proper car and van yesterday though so have a nice new Nissan NV200 and Mercedes C class sport plus coupe coming mid march… Is it wrong to be more exited about the van? It has a reversing camera like jonnyfox’s

Still not sure you would be happy with a Rover K and it wouldn’t be much of a saving long term , I can imagine everything changes once kids are on the cards and priorities change .

Those are my worries mate and once its sold there is no going back :astonished:
