Second Exige in NZ...

… just to follow Huskydog’s “First Exige in New Zealand” thread last week (well actually we’re only talking about S1s, there’s already a half-dozen S2s here)… my baby has finally arrived

I still don’t have her yet as she’s still got to clear customs, but I was able to go out yesterday and meet her on the boat and help to offload her. She’s now sitting in a shed at the port, waiting for customs clearance on Monday. I hope to be able to pick her up sometime on Monday noonish and take her out for the compliance certification, which is where Huskydog’s orange beastie is currently.

I’m WELL happy, and she’s even more gorgeous than I’d anticipated… these S1 Exiges don’t half look amazing in the flesh!

Plenty more pics to come, but this is my ne baby’s first peek at New Zealand daylight.

Congrats (at last!) bit of a saga but well worth the wait. Here’s to many happy days on some great roads out there.

Seconded

I didnt realise you were importing one, you`ve not mentioned it?

Just kidding, glad its there in one piece - whats its total mileage covered from Scotland to you?

11094 as the crow flies… given that it didn’t go straight I’d say about 13,000 miles or so

Does that mean I have to add that to the mileage shown on the stack?

Looks like you’ve been dudded, that’s just an elise with a fake wing on the back Haven’t you ever seen a real Exige before? Still, at least no one over will tell the difference.

Lemme guess… you want me to sell it to someone in Oz for peanuts?

Sounds fair.

Doing a SC Honda conversion over there soon so watch out.

Nice… arrived at the right time for your summer aswell!

Just dont let Pesky catch you with the roof off though…

He moans that it is not the right thing to do but in truth he just cares too much about us all (you only need to see Pesky to find out what happen to him when he took his roof off once…)

That’ll be Willy’s car then… should be a fearsome beastie when finished… there’s at least one more SC-H car on the way too… I’ll set my sights a lil lower and try to keep the N/A Honda Elises in sight and go from there.

Fear not… I will miss the roof-offness of the Elise, but I’ve already repared myself for an Exige summer with some intensive Sauna sessions

Windows down and drive fast.

Really? I was thinking of buying one of your supercharger kits and re-routing the SC outlet into the cabin

congratulations the long wait was well worth it after all! GREAT! It’s such a fantastic car, I wish you all the best, drive safe and have fun

Well I spent the weekend doing the geo. I had it checked the first weekend it was here and it was a bit all over the place. Thanks to much patience and persistance, it’s now tracking straight and true. It wasn’t too bad before (given the numbers I’m surprised how good it was), but now it’s just sublime. Still not chucked it around too many corners as it’s been a little damp.

Since it’s all street legal and the geo is all done now, I’ve just been out and done the bed-in procedure for the Pagids. I’m sure you all know that this involves doing some amount of leptons, and I went south to search out some straight, desserted roads that plod wasn’t likely to be roaming.

GOOD GOD MY TITANIUM BEAUTY FLIES!!!@%$!@#%#%@

I was a little worried I’ll admit, when the LoT tour came out, a few of them had a ride in my Elise and reckoned that it was a good’un… when I told them I desired an S1 Exige, they said they reckoned I’d not notice much of a difference… I’m happy to report they were all WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!

With the sports 'zorst and no cat she’s as loud as buggery, especially above 6,000, but by GOD does it sound good.

I think the best way to describe this car is “an Elise turned up to 11”. Given the amount of shared components I wasn’t expecting it to be this good.

Next task is to give her a full clean/valet/detail top to bottom which will happen over the next few weeks (don’t do things by half here in kiwiland!) and then some proper photos will be getting taken… until then, here’s a few of my filthy little baby snapped with a rubbish camera in bad lighting.

Got a mini stick-on plate for the front arriving tomorrow and that’ll complete the look of the front, looks much better without the GIANT UK plate Will be a 47% scale of the plate on the rear.
