They have the new probax foams and are very comfy! Carbon leather down the outside and the headrest, perforated leather down the middle, orange laurel leaf logo and all orange stitching.
I also got the door inserts done in carbon leather too, very nice.
I’m very impressed with that retrim. 100% better that the originals.
For anyone considering a retrim, I’ve got a pair of carbon leather and alcantara seats with the S2 exige logo that I’ll be putting on sale in about a week. Perhaps an opportunity for someone to upgrade without a retrim, and then sell their originals to an elise owner.
Yep my car is a “no pack” with air-con, thought I’d save a bit of weight and prefer the look of no carpets. The sun visors in the touring pack really are funny!
My car was also a ‘no pack’ with aircon. Lotus Sport arranged for my custom leather trim to be done at the factory at the time the car was built. Nice to have something personal rather than just one of the packs. Mine also has twin oil coolers now too, so has ended up kinda half touring, half perf spec.
My Exige S was taken to the trim shop from the production line today, i have had the sports seats retrimed in black leather with blue stiching as the car is Polar blue.
I hope to get the car next week and i will post some pics.
I thought this post was very interesting, not because my seats need retrimming, but because I’m playing with the idea of installing 6 point harnesses in my car and I have the std seats, so would need to cut holes in the base.
Also, I’ve heard very good things about the Probax shape and since this is just a foam at the base, would like this installed.
So, got in touch with Lotus and will now pass on the info I got.
The guy in charge of the retrim section is Mel Broome, email: MBroome (at) lotuscars.co.uk
The turnaround time is about 4 weeks for a full retrim, expect slightly less for only the middle section.
Hi Uldis, thank you for your enquiry which has been passed to me by Jon Hall. We do 3 types of retrim for earlier models. Standard seat in full leather which will cost 295.75 each Standard seat in leather with microfibre centres @ 319.13 each Sports seat in leather or leather/microfibre @ 338.30 each These prices do not include any taxes that may be applicable
Best Regards,
Mel Broome, After Sales dept
And when enquired about the middle section only (want to keep same style as std)
Hi Uldis
We believe that we could remove the seat centre and retrim to your requirements. We would need to change the style of the seat centre to accept the Probax foams. We do occasionally need to cut holes in seats for the same purpose as you need. I am assuming that you currently have Exige sports seats. Replacing the seat centre in leather would cost 87.36 each plus any taxes that apply. By using Probax foams we would remove all lumbar supports as they are not needed.
Regards, Mel
You’ll need to give the seats to your local Lotus dealer and they will send them to him. You’ll pick them up at the dealer again (or have them do everything, at a cost )
Whe enquired about fitting the Probax foam to afetrmarket seats like the Reverie or MOG he said it hasn’t been done, but he doesn’t see why not. This would be custom, so probably cost more but they would tell only upon seeing them.
So there you go.
As for me, I think I would have to wait for winter or something as I don’t want to have the car 4 weeks off the road waiting for seats.
But we’ll see.
Intersting… I spoke with Hanger111 last month as im in a similar situation, standard leather seats but would like the sports seats in which to feed my harness straps through but fancy the probax rather than the current lumbar set up.
They quoted around 1400 for two new sports seats with probax and leather trim and stiching of choice…
Yes I know, too long with the std lap belts.
I want to switch to harnesses so Pesky doesn’t have an excuse not to pax with me
Anyway, regarding the quote, tthat’s what I understood, at the end of the day, they’re removing the centre enyway and they now where exactly the holes should go, so it would be easy for them.
Not so expensive then!
The only case they told me they’ll give me a rough quote upon inspection was when mentioning the MOGs (wouldn’t it be nice? ligh AND with the Probax shape?
That makes it sound like excellent value for money then if they also cut the holes.
Not sure I would want too much covered up on some nice carbon seats like the MOGs; and have never seen the Probax and am a little sceptical about its supposed additional comfort…its only foam (isn’t it?) I can remember when Corbeau came out with a new seat material that had apparently been developed for NASA…didn’t quite set the world alight…
