Scotland: must-see places, must-drive roads?

Hi @ll, were planning to do a short trip to Scotland next year. Probabely not with the Exige  but with an E-Type (hired)

I know there are some

around, so can you give me some advice on what places to see and what roads to drive? Also I’d appreciate hints to the must-see racetracks, car exhibitions/museums, as well as architectural highlights, concert venues (Rock, Jazz), historical places and shopping areas (shoes for her etc.). Would be nice if there was an airfield around who offers passenger flights in a glider

And, whats the best time to travel? Weather-wise and regarding bank holidays and/or school holidays ?

We’ll start in our around Edinburgh and plan to stay 1-2 week(s). We’re not sure yet if 2 weeks is too long… I guess not

Thanks

Hi

Suggest you join www.scottishelises.com & ask there. They’re a bunch of nutters, but…

I was curious about this aswell. Hoping to pick up an exige this week and next week or the week after hoping to go upto scotland for a short trip myself.

For roads to drive see here: http://www.stevecarter.com/bestuk.htm
and plan to stay at least one night in Ullapool (http://www.riversideullapool.com/ or http://www.ferryboat-inn.com/)
But up there you wont find a concert, shops, or gliders

fantastic - thanks for the links

wow, THAT saves me a lot of money

ok my wife just found out that the car rental with the E-Type also has an Austin Healy (she hates the E-Type but loves the Healy…), so it might come out for 1 week E-Type for me and 1 week Healy for her

Looks like we’ll have to stay 2 weeks, so plenty of time to have a relaxing holiday up there
